From the time I was a child, I have been intrigued by the deserted houses and buildings that you pass everyday. My thoughts go to those people who inhabited 'my space' before me. Any history buff will understand these feelings. You experience the same thing when you step onto a battlefield, or wander through an old fort. Like if you were real still, you would be able to sense the former inhabitant. We occupy the same space, just at a different time. As a child, I would look at an old boarded-up home, long since abandoned, and could just picture small children running in the yard. The old one-room schoolhouse, can't you see the students playing on the swings, or the schoolteacher ringing them in from recess? I do. And this has become by obsession.
